5 days Kathmandu to Tibet  Tour comprises  of Lhasa and Ganden Monastery. The Lhasa and Ganden Monastery has a very important places in the history, culture and religion of Tibet. Tsedang is situated 138 miles southeast of Lhasa is the gateway to the ancient Yarlung valley – the base from where Yarlung kings unified Tibet. It was only later that the power center moved to Lhasa when King Songtsen Gampo of 7th century moved his capital to Lhasa Tibet. Samye Monastery is the first Buddhist monastery of Tibet and is a testimony of the acceptance of Buddhism in Bon dominated Tibet. At Tsedang, the 1200-year-old Samye monastery mimics the design of the ideal universe described in Buddhist scripture.

Tsedang is considered to be "the cradle of Tibetan Civilization", the small city of Tsedang was once the capital of the Yarlung Valley and is considered a place of great importance for Tibetans. During the 19th century it is thought the city contained thousands of houses, a bazaar, a gompa and a fort. Situated in the lower and middle reaches of the Yarlung Zangbo River, the area around Tsedang features dramatic reaches, pristine lakes and beautiful rivers.

Samye is the first monastery of Tibet is located 30 km from Tsedang and was founded in 779 CE by King Trisong Detsen who wished to revitalize Buddhism in Tibet, which was on the decline. The monastery was designed to resemble a giant mandala with various features of tantric Buddhist cosmology. Religious murals and statues fill the main temple, decorating it exquisitely. Samye Monastery is an important place for pilgrims and has been an active monastery since 1986.

Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival in Lhasa (3650m)
Welcome to Tibet. Meet your Tibetan guide at airport or train station, and drive to hotel in Lhasa. Enjoy a free day in Lhasa on your own.
Day 2: Sightseeing tour of Lhasa
Breakfast and guided Lhasa city tour visits Potala Palace, the wonder of Tibet and explore it. Later after lunch, we visit Jokhang temple, and explore around Barkhor Street, the old Tibetan market, enjoy a shopping strolling around there.
Day 3: Sightseeing tour of Lhasa
Breakfast, and continue exploring Lhasa on another guided tour in Tibet. We visit Norbulikha Palace Drepung and Sera monasteries.
Day 4:  Lhasa/Samye Monastery/Lhasa (290km)
Breakfast and exploration travel to Samye monastery of Tibet along the Brahmaputra River passing Sand Mountain and meadow. The 8th century built up first Buddhist monastery in Tibet has become an attraction for national and international travelers for the three Buddhist jewels of Buddha, Dharma and Sangha. Stay overnight in Lhasa
Day 5: Departure to Nepal/China
Breakfast and transfer to the airport or train station in Lhasa for your flight to Nepal Kathmandu or China.
