Guge Kingdom was an ancient Kingdom in Western Tibet. It is centered now the Zanda County within Ngari Prefecture of Tibet. At various points in history after 10th century AD, the kingdom held over a vast area including south-eastern Zanskar, Upper Kinnaur, and Sutlej valley either by conquest as tributaries. The ruins of the former capital of Guge kingdom are located at Tsaparang in the Sutlej valley not far from Mount Kailash. It is 1,900 km westwards from Lhasa.
Day 1: Arrive in Lhasa and transfer to Samye Monastery.
Welcome to Tibet, a high Himalayan land of diverse Buddhist culture and settle in to your hotel in Samye.
Day 2: Samye to Lhasa
Breakfast and get to know Samye Monastery and its surrounding -five sacred mountain of Tibet. In the afternoon drive to Lhasa, and excursion visit to Sera monastery in Lhasa. Stay overnight at hotel in Lhasa.
Day 3: Sightseeing tour of Lhasa
Breakfast and guided Lhasa city tour visits Potala Palace, the wonder of Tibet and explore it. Later after lunch, we visit Jokhang temple, and explore around Barkhor Street, the old Tibetan market, enjoy a shopping strolling around there.
Day 4: Lhasa - Shigatse (3,900m)
Travel to Shigatse, the second biggest town of Tibet making stops along the way at Yamdrok Lake and Gyantse. Enjoy the scenery of Yamdrok Lake and visit Pelkor Choede and Gyantse Kumbum monastery in Gyantse.
Day 5: Shigatse - Tashilunmpo - Saga (4500m)
Visit Tashilunmpo Monastery once the biggest monastery in Tibet, and then drive to Saga, the gateway small town to Kailash Manasarovar tour.
Day 6: Saga – Lake Manasarovar (4557m)
Drive to the holy lake of Manasarovar and enjoy free time to explore its beauty surrounding of monastery, beaches and great view of Mt Kailash. O/N at a guest house on the lake.
Day 7: Manasarovar – Zanda valley (3500m)
Bathe in the waters of Lake Manasarovar, and continue drive to Guge kingdom of the Zanda Valley. Enjoy a free afternoon in Guge valley.
Day 8: Toling - Guge - Tsaprang (3500m)
A full day sightseeing tour of Zanda valley explores the Toling and Tsaprang, the old capital city of Guge kingdom.
Day 9: Travel to Darchen (4600m)
After breakfast drive to Darchen. Have a good rest and prepare for the Kailash Kora.
Day 10: Kailash Trek (4920m) Dirapuk.
Enjoy the first day of Kailash kora trek to Dirapuk (4910m) which is 20 km takes about 6-7 hours of walking.
Day 11: Kailash Trek (5600 - 4800 m) Zuthulpuk.
The most difficult day of the second day of Kailash kora trek cross Dromala-La (5600 m). You can visit the monastery. Stay overnight in the guest house.
Day 12: Zuthulpuk – Paryang
The final day of the Kailash Kora - "final straight" road goes to Darchen, lunch. Then move to Paryang.
Day 13: Paryang - Tingri
Breakfast and continue a long drive back to Tingri.
Day 14: Tingri - Rongbuk Monastery
Breakfast and drive to Rongbuk Monastery. Enjoy a day hiking to Mount Everest Base Camp, and back to Rongbuk monastery for night halt.
Day 15: Rongbuk - Shigatse
Breakfast and start a long drive back to Shigatse. Enjoy a free time on your own.
Day 16: Shigatse - Gyantse – Lhasa
Breakfast and continue travel to Lhasa via Gyantse visiting Gyantse Fortress, Pelkor Chode monastery and Kumbum stupa of Gyantse.
Day 17: Departure
Breakfast and transfer to the airport or train station in Lhasa for your flight to Nepal Kathmandu or China.
